About this opportunity
The W. B. Yeats Award is an annual award established anonymously in honor of the famous Irish poet William Butler Yeats. The award recognizes an English Major or Honours student who has achieved academic excellence with a minimum average of 80% and has made significant contributions to the intellectual and social life of the Department of English at the University of Prince Edward Island. The anonymous donor felt that more awards were needed for high-achieving English students at UPEI and chose to name the award after W.B. Yeats, considered by many to be the greatest poet of the 20th century. This award will normally be given to a graduating student, but may be awarded to a deserving non-graduating student. The award celebrates both academic achievement and active engagement in the English department community, reflecting Yeats' own commitment to cultural and intellectual life.
