About this opportunity
The Waitawhiti Memorial Undergraduate Scholarship is supported by a gift from Charles and Margaret Richardson, who farmed at Waitawhiti Station near Eketahuna. The scholarship is in memory of their sons, who both attended Massey Agricultural College. Graham Speedy Richardson was a member of the Royal New Zealand Air Force and died in 1944. Paul James Richardson was shot in a farm accident.
This scholarship is designed for an undergraduate student, preferably from the Wairarapa region, studying agriculture or horticulture at Massey University. The award provides approximately $2,000 for one year's duration to support full-time undergraduate study in these specific fields.
When selecting recipients, the university considers academic achievements, hometown location (with preference for Wairarapa), and other scholarships or bursaries already held by the applicant. The scholarship aims to support students pursuing careers in agriculture or horticulture while honoring the memory of the Richardson family.
