Walter Bayda Memorial Award

The Walter Bayda Memorial Award is awarded to a student with satisfactory academic standing entering the second or third year of study for a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture or Agricultural/Food Business Management. Selection is based on demonstrated leadership and volunteerism in extracurricular and community activities that have made a difference to the lives of others. Preference is given to a student with a major in Sustainable Agricultural Systems. This endowed award was established by Eric (BSc Agriculture 1995) and Ruby Chen (BComm 1995) in memory of their friend and mentor, Walter Bayda, to support undergraduate students at the University of Alberta who exemplify leadership and community service within agricultural studies.
