About this opportunity
The Walter Carlyle Shaw Scholarship Fund was created to provide scholarships to McKeesport High School seniors. Walter Carlyle Shaw and his partner purchased G.C. Murphy Stores circa 1910, with the main office located in McKeesport, PA until the company was sold in 1985. This scholarship honors his legacy by supporting graduating seniors from McKeesport High School who plan to pursue higher education.
The scholarship provides up to $4,000 in financial support for students planning to attend a 2- or 4-year college or university. Applicants must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0. Preference is given to applicants who can demonstrate financial need and those who intend to pursue the medical field, inclusive of veterinarian science.
This is a single-year award administered through Scholarship America in partnership with The Pittsburgh Foundation. The scholarship aims to support local students from the McKeesport community in achieving their educational goals, particularly those interested in healthcare professions.
