Walter E. Schmid Family Foundation Scholarship

The Walter E. Schmid Family Foundation Scholarship was established in 2019 to support incoming first-year students from Western New York pursuing degrees in the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at the University at Buffalo. The scholarship recognizes students who have demonstrated high academic achievement in high school and show entrepreneurial interests. The award covers up to full New York State tuition and fees, and can be used exclusively for tuition and fees. This scholarship is renewable for up to four years, provided the recipient maintains good academic standing with a minimum GPA of 2.5. Priority is given to students from Western New York counties, though if no eligible WNY students apply, recipients from outside the region may be selected if they meet all other criteria. Applicants must demonstrate both their academic achievements in high school and their interest in entrepreneurship as part of the application process. This scholarship provides valuable financial support to promising engineering students who show both academic excellence and entrepreneurial spirit.
