About this opportunity
The Waste Not Somerset Fund offers grants for reducing or reusing waste generated in Somerset that would otherwise go to disposal. This Fund aims to reduce and prevent waste and encourage more re-use, repair and recycling within our communities, and fund projects that will help reduce the amount of waste going to disposal. Grants of £5,000 to £10,000 are available for new projects/initiatives, new elements or scaling up existing work, or replicating successful initiatives in new areas of Somerset. The Fund is a partnership between Somerset Community Foundation, SUEZ Recycling and Recovery UK, and Somerset Council. Applicants will need to track, quantify and report on how much waste the project will prevent from going to disposal, record the number of unique contacts with Somerset residents during the grant period, and demonstrate community involvement and broader social impact. Projects that intercept items going to disposal, refurbish them, and provide social benefits such as supporting isolated volunteers or providing low-cost items to residents experiencing financial hardship are particularly valued.
