About this opportunity
The Wellroot Family Services Scholarship Program supports youth who have experienced foster care, homelessness, and other significant challenges. The program recognizes students for their community service, academic performance, and demonstrated leadership in school. Awards ranging from $1,000 to $3,500 are granted annually for the next academic year. Applications are accepted starting in November through Scholarship America. The scholarship is designed to help students overcome adversity and achieve their educational goals at accredited institutions in the United States.
To be eligible, students must plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate or graduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school in the United States for the entire academic year. For most awards, applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale or its equivalent. Some funds within this program give preference to those who are, or have been, associated with or received assistance services from Wellroot Family Services (formerly UMCH).
Awards are not renewable; however, students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements. Awards are limited to one award per student per year and are for undergraduate and graduate study only.
