About this opportunity
The Wendy Mitchinson Doctoral Award in History provides $7,500 annually to a doctoral candidate registered full-time in the Department of History in the Faculty of Arts at the University of Waterloo who has completed their comprehensive field examinations. The award recognizes academic achievement with a minimum 80% cumulative average over the last two full-time academic years and a demonstrated interest in gender studies from a historical perspective. This includes topics such as women's history, history of masculinity, gender and society, gender and the state, and scholarly engagement in gender theory or concepts of gender as a social construct. Applicants must submit a 500-750 word letter by November 1st indicating how they are addressing these topics. The fund was established through generous donations from alumni, friends, family, and former students of Dr. Wendy Mitchinson, Distinguished Professor Emerita and an innovator of Canadian women's history.
