About this opportunity
The Wergle Flomp Humor Poetry Contest is now in its 25th year and seeks today's best humor poems. This contest is unique in that it accepts both published and unpublished work, with no entry fee required. The contest welcomes humor poetry up to 250 lines in length, including inspired gibberish. Poets from all countries are eligible except Iran, North Korea, Crimea, Russia, and Belarus due to US government restrictions. The contest is judged by Jendi Reiter, assisted by Lauren Singer, both experienced literary professionals. Winners receive cash prizes totaling $3,750 along with valuable benefits from co-sponsors Duotrope and Chill Subs. The top 13 entries are published online on the Winning Writers website and announced in their newsletter with circulation over 50,000, providing significant exposure for winning poets. This contest specifically emphasizes that serious poems will not be judged—only humor poetry is accepted.
