Wesley J. Vala Student Athlete Scholarship

The Wesley J. Vala Student Athlete Scholarship supports student athletes attending Eastern Illinois University. Priority is given to graduating seniors from Sangamon County High School who are participating in one or more intercollegiate athletic teams and have been accepted to Eastern Illinois University. If no suitable candidate from Sangamon County is available, the scholarship may be awarded to current Eastern Illinois University students meeting the other criteria. Recipients must be good athletes and qualifying students academically, with demonstrated outstanding achievement in high school athletics during their senior year. Financial need is also a consideration in the selection process. The scholarship is announced and awarded in both fall and spring semesters, and recipients may receive the award more than once if they continue to meet the criteria and are selected again by the committee.
