About this opportunity
The Western Australia Alumni Regional Scholarship for Engineering was established in 2018 and is maintained by an annual gift from Western Australia Alumni Founders. This scholarship supports domestic students from remote regional areas of Western Australia who are pursuing undergraduate engineering degrees at The University of Queensland.
The scholarship provides $5,000 per year for up to 4 years to students enrolled in Bachelor of Engineering (Honours), Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) and Master of Engineering, or engineering dual programs. It specifically targets students who completed Year 12 at a high school in a Remote Regional Area or as a boarder while having a permanent address in such an area.
Preference is given to Indigenous Australians and applicants who can demonstrate financial hardship. The selection process considers personal qualities, practical aptitude, aspirations to study engineering at UQ, financial hardship, interest in the resources and energy sector, and performance at interview if held. The scholarship aims to support future success in the engineering profession for students from underserved regional communities.
