About this opportunity

This scholarship is for Māori who wish to carry out doctoral research that will contribute to rangatahi suicide prevention and/or postvention programmes for Māori who have been bereaved by suicide. The scholarship is funded by the Health Research Council and is part of a three year research programme to increase understanding of the factors that contribute to enhanced suicide prevention programmes for Māori. The scholarship will support a research student to undertake doctoral studies at Te Herenga Waka in the Faculty of Health, with supervision provided by members of the research team. Recipients will be selected based on their ability to contribute to building suicide research capacity, evidence of community engagement, commitment to making a difference for Māori health and wellness, commitment to te reo Māori and te ao Māori, and academic merit.
