About this opportunity
The William and Melissa Higelmire Department of Recreation Administration Student of the Year Award is a merit-based scholarship for students majoring in Recreation Administration or Sport and Recreation Management at Eastern Illinois University. The award recognizes students who demonstrate academic achievement with a minimum major GPA of 2.75 and completion of at least 20 credit hours in the major. Financial need is a consideration in the selection process. Special consideration is given to applicants who have demonstrated service to the department, show potential for leadership in the field, and contribute to the academic department. Recipients must be enrolled full-time and may be eligible to receive the award again in subsequent years if they continue to meet the criteria. The award is announced and paid in the Spring semester.
