About this opportunity
The Windrush Day Grant Scheme 2026 provides funding to communities across England looking to commemorate, celebrate and educate about the Windrush generation and their contribution to UK society. The scheme aims to raise awareness, foster pride, and encourage and inspire the descendants of the Windrush Generation to become young leaders, pursue their aspirations and contribute to the shared values of UK society. For 2026, the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government is providing up to £500,000 to fund activities across England. Projects should be unique, bold, creative, community-led, and culturally resonant proposals that engage with the Windrush story and Windrush communities in powerful, enterprising and thoughtful ways. Applicants must demonstrate how their project will work with local partners such as museums, libraries and schools, and provide assurance that they have the capacity to deliver within the scheme's timeframe. Projects must not engage in political or extremist activity, promote partisan political views, and must provide value for money.
