About This Opportunity

The WNY Prosperity Fellowship Program is a leadership development program established by the Prentice Family Foundation seeking the next generation of entrepreneurs, leaders, and innovators committed to making a difference in Western New York. The fellowship is open to promising undergraduate or graduate students actively preparing for a career that furthers economic development and growth, especially in the Western New York region. The program provides up to $30,000 in combined scholarship support and paid internship opportunities. Fellows receive comprehensive support including up to $25,000 in scholarship support based on financial need, a paid internship with $4,000 compensation plus tuition and fees for 1 credit hour, and access to enrichment funds. The program includes extensive programming such as orientation week, fall retreats, winter seminar sessions, networking events, and workshops through UB's Startup and Innovation Collaboratory powered by Blackstone LaunchPad. Eligible candidates must be full-time students in good academic standing, with undergraduates applying as rising juniors, juniors, or seniors, and current or admitted graduate students from any major. Candidates must complete the FAFSA and demonstrate financial need. Applicants must specifically explain how their intended careers will directly relate to economic development and job growth in Western New York. Finalists will be interviewed. Fellowship benefits include affiliation with like-minded leaders, soft-skills development programming, complimentary membership to regional leadership organizations, an Explorer Pass for corporate partner programs, and competitive supplemental enrichment grants up to $2,000 for experiential learning. Post-award obligations include working in Western New York for two years within 10 years of earning the UB degree and agreeing to mentor future fellows.
