About this opportunity
The Baltic Centre for Writers and Translators (BCWT) in Visby on the island of Gotland, Sweden, offers residency grants for authors and literary translators. BCWT welcomes authors and literary translators of fiction, prose, poetry, children's books, essays, playwrights, screenwriters and similar literary professionals. The residency is free of charge and provides accommodation for a period of 3-5 weeks on average. Priority is given to literary professionals from the countries in the Baltic Sea region and Scandinavia, though applicants from all countries are welcome. The Centre also offers emergency residencies for literary professionals, writers, and literary translators from Ukraine with residency periods of 1-3 months. Applications can be submitted at any time and will be considered on a rolling basis. Residents are expected to participate in public events or meetings with the local community if arranged during their stay.
