About this opportunity
The Xuemin Shen Graduate Scholarship in Telecommunication is awarded annually to graduate students registered full-time in the master's or doctoral program in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Waterloo. The scholarship has a minimum value of $1,000 and is awarded based on academic excellence, with a minimum cumulative average of 80% required. Preference is given to students specializing in telecommunications research. This fund was established by donations from Dr. Shen's family, his former student Dr. Xiaodong Lin, and alumni and friends of the Broadband Communications Research Lab (BBCR) to express gratitude towards their graduate supervisor Dr. Xuemin (Sherman) Shen. Recipients are automatically selected by the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, normally each fall term. The award is available to both Canadian/permanent residents and international students with study permits.
