About This Opportunity
Beyond being a computer science major at EIU, Yahacov Dennis was well-loved for his joyous role on campus. After taking time off from school, he returned eager to seek his bachelor's degree and get involved on campus. Yahavoc always had big aspirations to leave a positive impact. He loved his family and those around him deeply and authentically. There was not a moment that Yahacov wasn't celebrating or becoming a source of joy and motivation for those around him. He was loved dearly by his family, friends, and classmates. In January of 2025, the lives of everyone who encountered Yahacov was greatly impacted forever as he passed away. He was just 22 years old. Authentic, Eccentric, and Bodacious are just a few characteristics to describe the way that Yahacov showed his heart to the world. In his free time, Yahacov enjoyed writing music, working out, and building his relationship with Allah. A creative, resilient mind, Yahacov found community amongst student organizations such as BSU and opportunity for personal development through the National Guard. Yahacov lives on through the memories of laughter he shared with the EIU community. He is survived by his parents Nadine and Brian Dennis, brother Dahveed Dennis, and close friends and family. This fund is dedicated to continuing Yahacov Dennis' legacy by supporting the educational pursuits of a transfer, non-traditional, or returning student in STEM fields. Preference will go to incoming transfer students, non-traditional students, or returning students who are pursuing a degree in a STEM field.
