About This Opportunity

Established in 2025 by Dr Omer Yezdani, the New Horizons ICT bursary is an equity bursary supporting undergraduate Computer Science or Information and Communications Technology students at UniSC. The aim of the bursary is to recognise the financial challenges that many students face during their studies. New Horizons refers to the incredible benefits and transformative potential that higher education offers, especially in a technology and data driven era. This bursary provides an opportunity for students to gain real industry insights, mentoring and guidance from senior leaders in data and analytics to inspire and support students in their educational journey. Each bursary is valued at $2,500 AUD and will be paid as a lump sum payment approximately three weeks after Census Date in Semester 2. The bursary is awarded based on financial need and consideration of hours worked in paid employment or commitment to activities that impact on the time available for the student to study. Eligible students must be first in family to attend university, under 25 years of age, have completed a minimum of 48 units with a GPA of 4.0, and be enrolled full-time in a Bachelor of Computer Science or Bachelor of Information and Communications Technology at UniSC Sunshine Coast or Moreton Bay campus. This bursary is offered on a yearly basis through funds provided by an external donor. If funding is not available in any given year, the bursary will not be awarded.
