About this opportunity
The Young and Talented Creative Writing Awards empowers young writers across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. Offering up to £1,000 and mentorship from professional writers, it nurtures potential, develops skills, and opens opportunities, ensuring aspiring authors, poets, journalists and screenwriters can pursue their careers and achieve their dreams in this challenging field. The awards support budding young writers with both financial support and professional mentoring to foster their potential, skills, and career development in the literary field. Launched in 2005 as The Lord Lieutenant's Fund for Youth, the fund now operates as Young & Talented Cornwall and is led by Colonel Edward Bolitho KCVO OBE, the current Lord Lieutenant of Cornwall. Priority is given to young people with backgrounds of economic hardship.
