About this opportunity
As part of North West Leicestershire District Council's Zero Carbon commitment, the Zero Carbon Grant offers funding from £50 to £1,000 for environmentally-focused community projects across the North West Leicestershire district. These are simple projects designed to make a big impact and are open to groups, organisations, and parish councils. Match funding of £50 to £1,000 is required in cash (not in-kind), meaning projects should have a minimum value of £100. Projects must be completed within a planned timescale of 12 months. The grant supports various environmental initiatives including general environmental improvements and climate change projects, energy efficiency improvements to buildings such as LED lighting and roof insulation, schemes to encourage cycling and walking, projects to improve green spaces like community orchards, wildflower meadows, and tree or hedge planting, and equipment to support composting, recycling, or litter picking. The grant has been successful in supporting community projects such as the Donisthorpe Scout Hut ceiling insulation and LED lighting installation. Please note that due to high volume of successful applications, the grant is currently closed until April 2026.
