Zonta Club of Charlottetown 40th Anniversary Single Mother Bursary

The Zonta Club of Charlottetown 40th Anniversary Single Mother Bursary is awarded to a single mother attending the University of Prince Edward Island on a full-time basis. The award is based on financial need and is designed to support female students pursuing higher education. The student must be single, separated, divorced, or widowed, and must have one or more children living at home. Zonta International is a worldwide service organization of executives in business and the professions working together to advance the legal, political, economic, health, and professional status of women. The Zonta Club of Charlottetown has a mission to encourage female students to achieve higher education and pursue leadership positions. As a millennium project, the club published a book celebrating Prince Edward Island women of the 20th century. Over the years, the Zonta Club of Charlottetown has contributed to a variety of local service initiatives including establishing student awards at UPEI to support women's educational advancement.
