About this opportunity
The Curtis-Gordon Research Scholarship in Chemistry was established by Gerry Gordon, a former student who worked with Professor Neil Curtis in the Chemistry Department at Victoria University of Wellington from 1961-1964. After completing his MSc research in Chemistry, Gerry pursued a successful career in industrial chemistry and became prominent in cement and concrete research in the United States. In 2001, Gerry established this scholarship through the Victoria University of Wellington Foundation to encourage chemistry students to undertake research degrees. The scholarship supports students enrolled in Chemistry at the BSc (Hons), MSc, or PhD level in the School of Chemical and Physical Sciences. A number of awards are made each year, with values ranging from $1,000 to $7,000 subject to available funds. The value of the scholarship is determined by the Selection Committee based on the need and academic record of the applicant. Preference is given to candidates who have completed all, or a substantial portion of, their undergraduate degree in Chemistry at Victoria University of Wellington.
