Distance Learning (DL) Sanctuary Awards

University of Leicester Original Source

About This Opportunity

The Distance Learning (DL) Sanctuary Awards are designed to remove barriers to higher education for those who have been forcibly displaced from their homes and/or who are at risk of political persecution, violence or conflict anywhere in the world. These awards offer opportunities to study part-time via distance learning at the University of Leicester. The programme recognizes that forced displacement creates significant obstacles to accessing education, and provides support for refugees, asylum seekers, internally displaced persons, and those at risk globally. Applicants can be based anywhere in the world with regular internet access, and eligibility is determined on a case-by-case basis. The Award provides a full fee waiver for part-time distance learning Master's programmes, though it cannot cover the cost of optional campus-based activities. The university understands that studies may have been interrupted, that applicants might not have evidence of previous qualifications or that qualifications aren't transferable, and that evidence of English language abilities may be difficult to obtain. The programme is specifically designed to accommodate these factors and prioritizes applicants with the greatest need who are facing the greatest barriers to continuing their education.
