About This Opportunity

The School of Psychology & Centre for Health Economics Research and Evaluation at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) is seeking one candidate to undertake a Doctor of Philosophy focusing on economic evaluation of eating disorder Medicare items. The successful applicant will conduct an economic evaluation of eating disorder Medicare items within the TrEAT Eating Disorder Registry, an innovative national initiative designed to improve outcomes for people living with eating disorders in Australia. The PhD project will focus on the economic evaluation of the Medicare items used in the registry including quantification of costs, cost-effectiveness, and long-term value for the health system and society. The research program may include cost-of-illness analyses of eating disorders in Australia, resource use and healthcare utilisation analyses using registry-linked data (MBS/PBS, hospital data), economic evaluation and decision-analytic modelling of registry-enabled care improvements, and budget impact analysis and policy translation. This project is embedded within a multidisciplinary program of work exploring the impact, outcomes and costs of the TrEAT registry with academics from multiple backgrounds including health economics, psychology, statistics and allied health and offers opportunities for collaboration with clinicians, policymakers, and consumer advocates.
