About this opportunity
The Fasken Indigenous Entrance Award in Law is awarded to a student who is First Nation, Inuit, or Metis people of Canada in accordance with the Constitution Act, 1982, Part 2, Section 35(2) with satisfactory academic standing entering the first year of a Juris Doctor in the Faculty of Law at the University of Alberta. The award recognizes Indigenous students who demonstrate both academic achievement and commitment to their communities through leadership, engagement, and service.
Selection is based on academic standing and demonstrated leadership, community engagement, volunteerism and/or involvement in extracurricular activities. This award supports Indigenous law students at the beginning of their legal education journey, providing financial assistance as they enter their first year of the Juris Doctor program.
The award is funded annually by Fasken, a leading international law firm with a commitment to supporting diversity and inclusion in the legal profession. Students are automatically considered for this award based on their completed General Application to the University of Alberta.
