About this opportunity
The Fred Doolin Education Scholarship was established in 2023 and is funded by Gerard Doolin in memory of his father, Fred Doolin, an alumnus of the University of Auckland who had lifted himself out of poverty through education and held a senior leadership role at the Secondary Teacher's College, Auckland during the 1970s. The scholarship demonstrates the value of education and the vocation of teaching.
The main purpose of the Scholarship is to support students undertaking an undergraduate degree or diploma in Education and Teaching who have demonstrated the potential to succeed but are experiencing hardships or who may have been disadvantaged due to their personal financial circumstances. The scholarship provides up to $10,000 in assistance with study costs.
The scholarship is available to New Zealand Citizens or Permanent Residents enrolling in an undergraduate degree or conjoint degree or an undergraduate diploma in Education and Teaching in the Faculty of Arts and Education at the University of Auckland. One scholarship is awarded annually with a tenure of one year.
