About this opportunity

This grant aims to provide clinically active researchers with the opportunity to conduct research part-time in the area of viruses and virus-caused pandemics while simultaneously developing their clinical competence. The purpose is to strengthen and renew medical and clinical research in this field. The grant supports researchers who have completed their doctoral degree within the past 10 years and are working in healthcare settings (such as physicians, nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, or dentists). The funding enables researchers to dedicate 30-50% of their time to research while maintaining their clinical practice. The research must fall within one or more of five focus areas identified in Sweden's national research program on viruses and pandemics: (1) viruses, virus-caused disease states and basic disease mechanisms, (2) mechanisms for emergence and spread of zoonoses with pandemic potential and strategies for prevention and management of infection spread, (3) development of antiviral drugs, vaccines and diagnostics, (4) societal measures arising due to pandemics and their effects on people's living conditions and health, and (5) organization, governance and coordination of important societal functions during a pandemic (infrastructures). The grant is intended as a career step for independent, established researchers at or near docent level.
