Green Roots Fund

Greater London Authority Original Source

About This Opportunity

The Green Roots Fund aims to create a greener city by providing grant funding to transform London's neighbourhoods. The fund supports a broad range of project types and organisations, focusing on areas and themes where the need for green and blue space improvements is highest. By investing in green infrastructure, the fund enables nature to thrive across London's urban landscape, helping to improve biodiversity, protect against climate change, and enhance quality of life for all. The fund supports both implementation projects (such as creation, improvement, and restoration of green spaces, waterways, wetlands, tree planting, and climate adaptation measures) and enabling works (such as community science, feasibility studies, volunteer training, and design work). Projects can last up to two years and must demonstrate public benefit while involving Londoners in planning, decision-making, or managing funded activities. The fund particularly emphasizes inclusion and involvement of diverse communities, with priority given to projects that address inequalities in access to green and blue spaces.
