About this opportunity
The Hal K. Rothman Book Prize is an annual award given by the Western History Association for the best book in western environmental history defined in its broadest sense. The prize recognizes outstanding scholarship that examines the relationship between humans and the environment in the American West and related regions. The award consists of $500 and a certificate to the author, and a certificate to the press. The prize is supported by contributions from individuals and publishers and administered by the WHA. In 2017 the prize changed from a biennial award to an annual award. All submissions must have a 2025 copyright date and are submitted through publishers, though authors are encouraged to confirm receipt with the committee chair.
