About this opportunity
The Loman Friedlander Award was established in 1990 by the Loman Friedlander Trust to commemorate a family member's strong interest in the area of Intellectual Property Law. The award recognizes and rewards original academic papers on any subject falling within the general area of Intellectual Property Law, including patents, trade marks, registered designs, and copyright.
The award is open to any tertiary student who is a New Zealand resident. Submissions must be original papers between 5,000 and 10,000 words on any subject within the area of Intellectual Property Law. One award is offered each year, but the award is only made if an entry of sufficient standard is received.
The Loman Friedlander Award has recognized outstanding student scholarship in intellectual property law since 1989, with winners from various New Zealand universities including Auckland, Victoria, Canterbury, Otago, and Waikato. Past winning papers have addressed diverse topics ranging from copyright and street art to biotechnology patents and Māori intellectual property rights.
