About this opportunity
The NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) offers unique research opportunities to highly-talented scientists to engage in ongoing NASA research projects at a NASA Center, NASA Headquarters, or at a NASA-affiliated research institute. These one- to three-year fellowships are competitive and are designed to advance NASA's missions in space science, Earth science, aeronautics, space operations, exploration systems, and astrobiology. This specific opportunity focuses on developing new enabling technologies for fundamental and applied sciences in space, including atomic frequency standards, clocks, and related quantum sensor technologies for precision measurements. Research activities range from basic concept studies, proof-of-principle demonstrations in the laboratory, and instrument implementation. Current research areas include micro atomic clocks, optical clocks with neutral atoms and trapped ions, atom interferometer sensors, and photonic quantum sensors. Opportunities also exist in formulating and conducting space fundamental physics research using precision measurement methods and tools. The fellowship is located at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California.
