About This Opportunity

The NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) offers unique research opportunities to highly-talented scientists to engage in ongoing NASA research projects at a NASA Center, NASA Headquarters, or at a NASA-affiliated research institute. These one- to three-year fellowships are competitive and are designed to advance NASA's missions in space science, Earth science, aeronautics, space operations, exploration systems, and astrobiology. This specific opportunity focuses on advancing combustor technologies and understanding their overall impact on climate and human health, including the use of sustainable aviation fuels and their role in the decarbonization of aviation. The research addresses aviation particulate emissions' impact on human health and contrail formation. The candidate will participate in combustion flame tube experiments through extractive aerosol measurements, collect and analyze results from combustion tests, and collaborate with NASA researchers and external partners. The work includes partnerships with industry and government agencies supporting the U.S. Climate Action Plan and Sustainable Flight National Partnership.
