About this opportunity
The NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) offers unique research opportunities to highly-talented scientists to engage in ongoing NASA research projects at a NASA Center, NASA Headquarters, or at a NASA-affiliated research institute. These one- to three-year fellowships are competitive and are designed to advance NASA's missions in space science, Earth science, aeronautics, space operations, exploration systems, and astrobiology. This specific opportunity focuses on planetary science research examining the geochemistry and geochronology of planetary materials. The research uses the Mid-Atlantic Noble Gas Research Laboratory (MNGRL) to study the formation, modification, and age of planetary materials from the Moon, asteroids, and Mars. Current projects include noble-gas dating of lunar impact-melt rocks, examination of meteorite breccias from asteroids, age limits on terrestrial impact craters, and development of the Potassium-Argon Laser Experiment (KArLE) for in situ planetary isotopic dating for future Mars and Moon missions. The fellowship is based at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, under the advisorship of Dr. Barbara A. Cohen.
