About This Opportunity

The Addington Fund's New Entrant Scheme provides grants to support new entrants into farming in England and Wales. The scheme is designed to help individuals aged 18-40 who are entering the agricultural industry for the first time or who have been farming on their own for no more than five years. Grants support innovative individuals with initiatives that deliver real benefits to farming businesses, including healthy livestock management, sustainable soil care, and preventing future issues that could affect long-term viability. The scheme covers essential items that improve the health of farms and livestock, such as soil and fodder analysis, livestock health planning and vet attestation, animal health products like wormers and vaccinations, shearing services, livestock monitoring cameras, mobile fencing equipment, hoof trimming equipment, and disinfection materials. Grants are capped at £3,000 and are paid upon production of an invoice for the requested item. This scheme is established in honour of the late Peter Jinman OBE, MRCVS, who served as Chair of Trustees and was passionate about supporting new entrants into farming. The scheme focuses on promoting healthy livestock, healthy soil, and healthy farms to help new farmers access essential items that promote positive animal welfare and sustainable farming practices. Capital items such as machinery, livestock trailers, and livestock are not eligible for this scheme.
