About This Opportunity

The Nutrien Engineering Entrance Scholarship is designed to support underrepresented groups pursuing engineering education at the University of Saskatchewan. The program offers two awards: one for Indigenous students and one for students who identify as BIPOC (Black, Indigenous or Person of Colour) or LGBTQ2S+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual, Transgender, Queer, or Two-Spirited). Each scholarship provides $5,000 for the first year, renewable once for a second year, for a total potential award of $10,000. The scholarship recognizes students entering their first year of a Bachelor of Science in Engineering program. Applicants are required to submit a one-page letter detailing their inspiration for studying engineering, how their journey as a minority group member may differ, how their diverse experiences could be advantageous in professional engineering, the impact they hope to have as engineers, and any interest in the mining industry. Selection is based on the merits of the submitted letter along with demonstrated leadership qualities, community involvement, and extracurricular activities.
