About this opportunity
This four-year studentship is funded by Cancer Research UK Cambridge Institute and includes full funding for University fees and an index-linked stipend starting at £22,500 for four years. The position is for a collaborative project between Professor Richard Gilbertson and Dr Giulia Biffi focusing on pancreatic cancer metastasis research. The project will be carried out in the Biffi lab with Professor Gilbertson as Principal Supervisor.
Applicants are expected to have laboratory experience in tissue culture and molecular biology techniques (e.g. RNA/protein analyses). Experience in areas such as mouse work, organoids, CRISPR, flow cytometry, and computational skills is highly desirable. A significant part of the work will be done with mouse models of pancreatic cancer, so working with laboratory mice throughout the duration of the PhD is an essential requirement.
The successful candidate must be strongly committed to the laboratory's research and translational goals, as well as to the team's collaborative and hardworking culture. They should be highly motivated to drive an independent research project, but also be a very collaborative and kind individual. The studentship covers home and international fees, maintenance, student visa costs, and the immigration health surcharge.
