About this opportunity

The Stòras na h-Òigridh (Treasures of Youth) Fund was founded in 2010 by the Nova Scotia Highland Village Society to ensure that cultural skills based on Gaelic traditions continue to flourish in Nova Scotia. The fund provides financial support to youth who are keen to advance their skills in the Gaelic tradition, including fiddle, pipes, piano/guitar accompaniment, language, storytelling, song, and dance. The concept was inspired by the late Michael Anthony MacLean, a well-known fiddler from Washabuck, NS, who had a keen interest in assisting youth to further their skills in playing traditional Cape Breton music. The fund was initially ignited by sales of Michael Anthony MacLean's 'Good Boy M.A.!' CD. This endowment fund looks ahead to the next 50 years of promoting and developing Gaelic culture and heritage in Nova Scotia, supporting young people to continue these important cultural traditions.
