About this opportunity
The Waterloo AI Institute Graduate Scholarship is a competitive award valued at $5,000 awarded annually to graduate students at the University of Waterloo who are conducting research in artificial intelligence. The scholarship recognizes graduate students registered full-time in master's or doctoral programs who are supervised by faculty affiliated with the Artificial Intelligence Institute at the University of Waterloo.
Selection is based on academic achievement, with applicants required to maintain a minimum 80% cumulative average in their current program, and demonstrated expertise in artificial intelligence. The scholarship broadly encompasses AI research including foundations of AI, applications of AI, and the social, ethical issues, and implications of AI.
A committee including the co-directors of the Artificial Intelligence Institute and other members of the Institute selects recipients in the winter term. Applicants must submit a completed application form, a letter of maximum two pages describing their expertise in artificial intelligence, and an unofficial transcript to the Managing Director by the annual posted deadline.
This scholarship is open to both Canadian/permanent residents and international students studying on a study permit. It provides financial support to graduate students engaged in cutting-edge AI research at one of Canada's leading technology universities.
