Yellow Ribbon Program

About This Opportunity

The Yellow Ribbon Program can help you pay for higher out-of-state, private school, foreign school, or graduate school tuition and fees that the Post-9/11 GI Bill doesn't cover. If you qualify, your school will contribute a certain amount toward your extra tuition and fees through a grant, scholarship, or similar program, and the VA will match the contribution. Eligibility requires qualifying for the Post-9/11 GI Bill at the 100% benefit level. This includes Veterans who served at least 36 months on active duty and were honorably discharged, those who received a Purple Heart on or after September 11, 2001, those discharged for service-connected disability after 30 continuous days of service, active-duty service members, eligible spouses and dependent children using transferred benefits, and Fry Scholars. The school must be an institution of higher learning that offers the Yellow Ribbon Program, has not reached their maximum number of enrolled students for the program, and has certified enrollment with the VA. Benefits can be used at private schools, foreign schools, or public schools when attending as a nonresident student.
