The Joel Donovan KC Law Scholarship
The Durham Inspired Joel Donovan KC Law Scholarship provides financial support for UK Black Heritage students pursuing undergraduate study at Durham Law School. The scholarship was established by alumnus Joel Donovan KC to support Durham Law School's mission of social mobility and social inclusion. It aims to attract and enable young scholars to meet their aspirations by removing economic obstacles that may stand in their way. The scholarship specifically supports students of Black Heritage - African, Caribbean, Dual or Mixed Heritage backgrounds who have been educated at state-maintained UK schools and whose household income is below £47,200. Recipients must be commencing LLB Law studies at Durham Law School and have Home student fee status. The scholarship provides £5,000 per year for three years of undergraduate study.
Hogan Lovells Scholarships
The Hogan Lovells Scholarship assists undergraduate students embarking on the LLB Law or Law with Foundation LLB programme who have a desire to practice commercial law. The University gratefully acknowledges the generous gift bestowed by Hogan Lovells International LLP. Four Scholarships are offered per academic year, awarding scholars with up to £9,000 of financial support for the first years of their academic studies on their Law programme. At Hogan Lovells, they believe that access to the legal profession must be open and fair and aim to break down barriers that may deter talented individuals. The scholarship scheme includes not only funding but also access to Hogan Lovells contacts to find out more about commercial law, help navigate the recruitment process and provide greater insights into opportunities available following studies. The scholarship can be paid towards tuition fee costs, accommodation or directly into the recipient's bank account in termly instalments.
