The Women's Scholarship (Marjorie McDermott) is awarded annually to outstanding women students in the Mathematics Department at Imperial College London. The scholarship supports women pursuing further study in Mathematics, with awards given to undergraduate students continuing their studies and to women entering MSc or MRes programmes. Recipients are selected based on academic merit, intention to pursue further study in Mathematics (MSci, MSc, or PhD), and demonstration of good citizenship through volunteering, leadership, or community service. Undergraduate recipients receive £1,000 in each of Years 1 and 2, followed by £7,500 during their MSci year or when pursuing an MSc or MRes. The scholarship aims to encourage and support women in advanced mathematics education and research.

Widening Participation Postgraduate Scholarship 2026/2027

Imperial College London

The Department of Bioengineering at Imperial College London offers a limited number of MRes scholarships worth £4,999, open to all students regardless of country of origin. These scholarships are designed to support widening participation at the postgraduate level. Successful applicants will receive a one-off cash bursary of £4,999 that is not to be applied towards tuition fees, providing financial support for living costs or other expenses. The scholarships are available for students pursuing MRes Neurotechnology, MRes Bioengineering, or MRes Cancer Technology programs. Selection is primarily based on academic merit and prospect by the department panel. All applicants who submit their applications by the deadline are automatically considered for these scholarships without needing to submit a separate application. This scholarship is not available to continuing students and is exclusively for prospective students entering in the 2026/2027 academic year.
