The Stephanie Balanchuk Patterson Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to a high-achieving student, who has a Ukrainian background, and is from Northern Ontario. The award was established with a bequest from Nipissing Alumna Stephanie Balanchuk Patterson. Stephanie graduated from the North Bay Normal School in 1949 and had an exciting career in education. She taught in the UK and all over Ontario, experiencing every grade from kindergarten to high school. She continued her education, receiving a Bachelor of Arts from Queen's and shifted her education focus to high school and guidance. After finally retiring in 1986, she moved into a beautiful waterfront home with her sister Mary. This entrance scholarship honors her legacy and commitment to education, specifically supporting Ukrainian students from Northern Ontario entering university.
Robert and Ann Parsons Northern Scholar Award
The Robert and Ann Parsons Northern Scholar Award is designed to encourage North Bay and surrounding community high school students to study at Nipissing University. This award is presented to a full-time student entering the first year of a Bachelor of Arts (three year general, three year liberal or four year honours) degree at Nipissing University with a solid academic standing (minimum 75%). This award aims to recognize students who exemplify excellence among their peers in terms of academics, extra-curricular involvement and citizenship. The recipient must demonstrate financial need and be a resident of Ontario as defined by OSAP.
North Bay and Area Realtors Association Award
The North Bay and Area Realtors Association Award recognizes two full-time first year Nipissing University students who are graduates of a local North Bay high school and have demonstrated financial need. The recipients must also be in good academic standing. This entrance award provides $1,000.00 to support students beginning their undergraduate studies. To be considered for this award, students must complete a Nipissing University Application for Entrance Awards, which is available on the university website in early March, with a deadline of May 1.
The Jacksons of Lansdowne and O'Brien Award
The Jacksons from Lansdowne and O'Brien Award is presented to a full-time Nipissing student who is entering their first year of study in any degree program. The recipient must have graduated from a North Bay high school and have a 70-80% average. The award is renewable for up to one additional year based on the maintenance of an above 70% average. This entrance award is valued at $2,000 and provides financial support to local students beginning their post-secondary education at Nipissing University.
Calliope Loukidelis Memorial Scholarship
The Calliope Loukidelis Memorial Scholarship is administered by the Canadian Federation of University Women and is funded by the Loukidelis family in memory of Mrs. Loukidelis, a charter member of CFUW North Bay. This entrance scholarship is awarded to the female student graduating with the highest overall average from one of North Bay's five secondary schools who will be attending Nipissing University. The scholarship recognizes academic excellence while also supporting students who demonstrate financial need and are residents of Ontario as defined by OSAP. The award aims to support female students transitioning from secondary school to university education at Nipissing University.
