This grant program supports private owners of protected cultural heritage sites and cultural environments in Norway to preserve and restore these sites according to heritage conservation guidelines. The grant scheme seeks to secure cultural heritage and cultural environments as sources of knowledge and experience, while facilitating sustainable value creation and use. The program was originally established to ease the burden on private individuals who maintain and restore protected cultural heritage sites and environments that serve as common goods for society. Grants cover additional costs, wholly or partially, that arise from requirements for heritage conservation execution in securing, restoration, maintenance, and care of protected or temporarily protected sites, or sites under protection proceedings.
