Jacob G. Schurman Memorial Graduate Studies Award
The Jacob G. Schurman Memorial Graduate Studies Award is presented to the Masters or PhD student at the University of Prince Edward Island whose thesis has been determined to be of superior quality. The award recognizes outstanding graduate research and scholarly achievement. The application and selection process is determined by the UPEI Graduate Studies Advisory Committee, who reviews and evaluates thesis submissions. The award is presented in the Convocation award cycle at the Senior Class Awards Ceremony, honoring the academic excellence of graduate students at UPEI.
IKERAS PhD Student Bursary
The IKERAS PhD Student Bursary will be granted to a maximum of two Canadian Indigenous individuals living on Prince Edward Island who could be existing, returning or new UPEI students. The bursary is only for registration in a UPEI PhD Graduate Program and recipients will be identified and approved by the Faculty of Indigenous Knowledge, Education, Research and Applied Studies (IKERAS). This award provides financial support specifically designed to assist Indigenous doctoral students in pursuing their academic goals at UPEI.
Harry & Anne Love Scholarship
The Harry & Anne Love Scholarship is awarded to a full-time returning student who has achieved the highest combined average in Stat 1910, 1920, and 2910, as part of a major in Mathematics or Statistics at the University of Prince Edward Island. This scholarship honors Dr. Harry and Anne Love, both alumni of Prince of Wales College and founders of UPEI. Dr. Harry Love, who completed his PhD in mathematics at Dalhousie University, had a special interest in statistics and was deeply passionate about teaching. Anne Love also valued education and teaching. The couple played key roles in the development of UPEI and remained active supporters of the university. Dr. Harry Love passed away in January 2017, but the scholarship continues to celebrate their legacy and commitment to student success in mathematics and statistics.
