Commonwealth Scholarships for Developing Countries

Commonwealth Scholarships for Masters and PhD study in the UK are offered for citizens of developing Commonwealth countries. These scholarships are funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), with the aim of contributing to the UK's international development aims and wider overseas interests, supporting excellence in UK higher education, and sustaining the principles of the Commonwealth. The scholarships provide 12 months support towards completion of a full-time taught postgraduate qualification (excluding MBA programmes) or up to 36 months support towards completion of a full-time doctoral postgraduate qualification at an eligible UK institution. Durham University participates in this programme, allowing eligible students from developing Commonwealth countries to pursue advanced studies at the institution.

ANID Scholarships

Durham University

The ANID (National Agency for Research and Development) Scholarships are funded in partnership between Durham University and the Chilean government's student funding organisation. Durham University provides a 25% tuition fee discount for the duration of the programme to Chilean students who receive ANID funding. This partnership scheme supports Chilean students pursuing advanced degrees at Durham University across a wide range of academic disciplines. The scholarship is available for both Master's and PhD programmes, with Master's scholarships covering one year and PhD scholarships covering up to three years of study. All candidates must meet ANID eligibility criteria and are selected by ANID, with results typically announced in July for Doctorate scholarships and August for Master's scholarships. The scholarship excludes MBA programmes but is available for all other full-time programmes at Durham University.
