This grant program supports owners and managers of cultural heritage sites that are part of the UNESCO World Heritage List, specifically the Røros Mining Town and Circumferensen in Innlandet County. Funding is provided for conservation, restoration, maintenance, monitoring, and other necessary measures to preserve the outstanding universal values defined in UNESCO's inscription documents. This grant program provides funding for projects and initiatives related to the eight areas in Norway that are inscribed on UNESCO's World Heritage List, along with their buffer zones. In special cases, funding can be granted to projects and initiatives in areas listed on Norway's tentative list. The program is administered by county municipalities (fylkeskommuner), the Sámi Parliament (Sametinget), and Riksantikvaren (the Directorate for Cultural Heritage Management). Applications for projects concerning the Urnes World Heritage site, multiple World Heritage sites, or sites on the tentative list should be directed to Riksantikvaren. The funding supports various types of applicants including county municipalities, municipalities, museums, organizations, businesses, and private individuals working to preserve and manage these culturally significant sites.
