Chevening Healthcare, Health Policy, and Health Reform Fellowship
The Chevening Healthcare, Health Policy, and Health Reform Fellowship is funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. It is designed for mid-career health and social policy professionals from China who are interested in undertaking research that aligns with the UK's global health priorities. The fellowship takes place at the University of Oxford's Department for Continuing Education over a six-month period from October to April. Fellows will explore the future of global health, engage with leading experts in the UK and China, and drive meaningful improvements in healthcare systems through policy, innovation, and leadership. Participants are expected to complete a research paper of up to 10,000 words in English on topics aligned with UK global health priorities, including innovation to support ageing societies, reducing antimicrobial resistance through a 'one-health approach', developing low-carbon health systems, vaccines and therapeutics for emerging diseases, and reducing the impact of climate change on health. During the fellowship at Oxford, participants will be hosted by the Department for Continuing Education and receive both academic and pastoral support from Oxford faculty. Fellows will be entitled to attend open lectures, seminars, and other academic activities on the same basis as other visiting fellows. After completing the fellowship, participants are expected to contribute to discussion around ongoing health and social policy reform in China. The fellowship provides comprehensive funding including full programme fees, living expenses for the duration of the fellowship, return economy airfare, and an allowance package for research-related activities. Three exceptional candidates are selected for this unique professional development opportunity each year.
