The Swedish Society of Medicine (SLS) offers up to two research grants of 300,000 SEK each for projects focused on climate, health, and sustainable healthcare. This funding opportunity stems from SLS's policy on climate, health, and sustainable healthcare, which aims to contribute to reduced climate impact and sustainable health and medical care. The program addresses the growing recognition that climate change represents the greatest global health threat of the 21st century, and that healthcare systems need to transform towards reduced environmental impact. Projects may focus on reducing the use of single-use products, energy, water, and antibiotics, as well as reducing pharmaceutical emissions in water. The connection between climate-smart diets and health improvement, including reduction of premature death from common diseases, is also of interest. Interdisciplinary approaches are particularly encouraged. The program supports projects that can be completed within two years with budgets of approximately 500,000 SEK. Funds can be used for materials, equipment, and personnel costs, with all project funds managed by the university or other governmental institution where the applicant conducts their research.
