International Student Integrity Award
The International Student Integrity Award is granted to international students attending NorQuest College on a study permit who are enrolled in a full-time career program of at least 8 months duration. This award recognizes students who demonstrate academic excellence and high standards of personal conduct. Eligible students must maintain an academic standing of 75%/B/3.0 or higher and demonstrate exemplary personal conduct consistent with NorQuest College's Code of Conduct Policy. Additionally, recipients must show consistent class attendance and participate in the NorQuest International's Jumpstart Program, attending at least four out of six sessions during the 2025-26 academic year. Students who completed the equivalent program in the 2024-25 academic year are also eligible to apply. The award provides $1,000 CAD to support international students' educational endeavors. It is important to note that students can only receive this award once per academic year, ensuring broad distribution of support among the international student community.
International Student Community Developer Award
The International Student Community Developer Award is presented to an international student attending NorQuest College on a study permit who is enrolled in a full-time credit program. This award recognizes students who demonstrate significant involvement in campus activities including volunteering, leadership roles, student government, student clubs, and participation in on-campus events. Applicants must submit a personal letter describing how their involvement in campus activities has positively impacted their overall campus experience as an international student at NorQuest College. The award provides $1,000 CAD to support deserving international students who have contributed to the campus community.
Gordon Holub Reconciliation Award
The Gordon Holub Reconciliation Award is awarded to a full-time student enrolled in any NorQuest College credit program. This award recognizes students who demonstrate outstanding leadership specifically in the area of furthering Truth and Reconciliation with Indigenous peoples, or who inspire others to continue Reconciliation efforts. Applicants must maintain an academic standing of at least 64%/C/2.0 or higher. The award provides $500 to support students committed to advancing reconciliation work within their educational journey and community.
Glen McCalpin Memorial Award
The Glen McCalpin Memorial Award is awarded to a NorQuest College Academic Upgrading student who demonstrates financial need and academic excellence. The award recognizes students who maintain a strong academic standing of 75%/B/3.0 or higher while contributing to their community through volunteer activities. Applicants must be Canadian Citizens, Permanent Residents, or Landed Immigrants enrolled in the Academic Upgrading program at NorQuest College. The award provides $1,000 to support the educational pursuits of students who demonstrate commitment to their educational goals and career objectives.
Fredrickson-McGregor Education Foundation for LPNs Practical Nurse Award
The Fredrickson-McGregor Education Foundation for LPNs Practical Nurse Award is a scholarship awarded to full-time or part-time students enrolled in the NorQuest College Practical Nurse program or students pursuing post-diploma advanced education programs designated for Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), such as the Advanced Education in Orthopaedics for LPNs program. This award recognizes students who demonstrate strong academic achievement with a minimum GPA of 75% (B/3.0), have demonstrated financial need, and have made meaningful community contributions through volunteerism either within the college or in the broader community. Applicants must be Alberta residents for at least 12 months prior to their admission to the program. The award provides $1,000 in financial support to help offset educational costs for nursing students pursuing their practical nursing education or advancing their LPN credentials.
Edmonton Chinese Lions Club Legacy Award
The Edmonton Chinese Lions Club Legacy Award is a scholarship awarded to a full-time student in the NorQuest College Social Work program. This award recognizes students who demonstrate strong academic performance with a minimum standing of 75%/B/3.0. Applicants must submit a personal letter describing their educational goals and career objectives. Preference is given to students from single parent households. The award provides $1,200 to support students pursuing their social work education at NorQuest College.
Colbourne Health Care Collaborator Award
The Colbourne Health Care Collaborator Award is presented to a full-time student enrolled in their second year of a NorQuest College Interdisciplinary Therapy Assistant program. This award recognizes students who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement with a minimum of 85% or A-/3.7 GPA, along with community volunteer and leadership experience and non-scholastic achievements. Recipients must provide a personal letter describing their educational goals and career objectives, as well as a reference letter from a preceptor highlighting exceptional performance with special emphasis on evidence of collaborative care behavior. The award supports students who show commitment to collaborative care practices in the Canadian healthcare system.
Colbourne Excellence Scholarship
The Colbourne Excellence Scholarship is awarded to full-time students enrolled in a NorQuest College career program that is a minimum of 8 months or longer and who have completed at least one term. This scholarship recognizes academic excellence, community involvement, and leadership. Recipients must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents residing in Alberta, maintain a high academic standing of 85%/A-/3.7 or higher, and demonstrate community volunteer and leadership experience as well as non-scholastic achievements. Applicants are required to submit a personal letter describing their educational goals and career objectives. The scholarship provides $5,000 to support students in their educational journey at NorQuest College.
Claudette Whyte Memorial Indigenous Student Award
The Claudette Whyte Memorial Indigenous Student Award is a scholarship offered by NorQuest College to support Indigenous female students pursuing their education in the Child and Youth Care program. This award recognizes the unique challenges and opportunities faced by Indigenous mothers in accessing and completing post-secondary education. The scholarship provides financial assistance of $1,000 to eligible recipients. Applicants must be full-time students enrolled in the NorQuest Child and Youth Care program who identify as female mothers of Indigenous Heritage, including First Nation (status or non-status), Métis, or Inuit. Recipients must maintain a minimum academic standing of 64% (C/2.0 GPA) or higher and submit a personal letter describing their educational goals and career objectives. This award honors the memory of Claudette Whyte while supporting Indigenous women in their pursuit of careers in child and youth care.
Canadian Multicultural Education Foundation Award
The Canadian Multicultural Education Foundation Award is granted to full-time students enrolled in NorQuest College's Justice, Settlement Studies, or Social Work programs who have completed at least one term. Applicants must demonstrate academic excellence with a minimum GPA of 75%/B/3.0 or higher. The award recognizes students who show a strong commitment to multiculturalism, diversity, inclusion, human rights, and social justice through their community activities and personal values. Recipients must submit a personal letter describing their educational goals and career objectives, and explain how they intend to apply these values to their chosen field of study and personal life. This award supports students who are dedicated to promoting social justice and multicultural understanding in their academic pursuits and future careers.
Laurence Decore Award for Student Leadership
The Laurence Decore Award for Student Leadership is awarded to a full-time student in a NorQuest College career program with a minimum 60% course load. This award recognizes students who demonstrate leadership through involvement in student government, student societies, clubs, organizations at the institutional, provincial, or national level, or through participation in non-profit community organizations. Recipients must maintain satisfactory academic standing and demonstrate meaningful contributions to their communities through leadership activities.
Dr. Gary McPherson Leadership Scholarship
This scholarship recognizes students who have demonstrated outstanding leadership, especially in the area of disability, and/or initiative to improve the conditions and lives of others. The award is valued at $2,000 and is available to full-time students enrolled in a NorQuest College career program. Applicants must be Canadian Citizens, Permanent Residents, or Protected Persons residing in Alberta, and must demonstrate satisfactory academic standing. Selection is based on the role and contribution each student has made to their school and the documentation provided with the application. There are a limited number of scholarships available and application deadlines vary by school.
Black History Month Bursary
The Black History Month (BHM) African, Caribbean, and Black (ACB) Bursary was established to support students from the ACB community during their studies at NorQuest College. The Black History Month Working Group at NorQuest College creates and runs various events throughout the month of February, which is recognized as Black History Month in Canada and is a time to honor the contributions of the ACB community. This $500 bursary is made possible through fundraising events such as the Black History Month Marketplace, which showcases the work of ACB artists, businesses, and non-profit organizations in and around the Edmonton area. Proceeds from these events directly fund the bursary and support student learning. The bursary is awarded to a Black student enrolled full-time in any NorQuest College Foundational or Career program who demonstrates financial need and satisfactory academic achievement with a minimum GPA of 2.0 (50%). Students are only eligible to receive one Black History Month Bursary per academic year.
Metis Scholar Awards
The Metis Scholar Awards are awarded to full-time Indigenous students who will be enrolled in any year of any program at Mount Royal University in the upcoming fall semester. Applicants must provide proof of Metis heritage. The scholarship recognizes students who demonstrate financial need and have meaningful connections to the Metis community. Candidates are required to submit a letter of 800-1000 words outlining their experience with the Metis community, including volunteer activities specific to the Metis community, family history, or their plans to give back to the Metis community. This award supports Indigenous students in pursuing their educational goals while maintaining and strengthening their ties to the Metis community.
Bayer Crop Science Opportunity Scholarship
The Bayer Crop Science Opportunities Scholarship is an annual opportunity for students entering full-time studies in either a bachelor's degree or diploma program lasting at least two years relating to agriculture, food science and culinary programs of studies. This scholarship represents Bayer's commitment to investing in the next generation of Canadian agriculture and food production professionals. Twelve successful applicants are selected each year based on demonstrated academic standards and leadership in the community. The selection of successful applicants is made by an independent panel. Preference is given to two applicants of Canadian Indigenous heritage, supporting diversity in the agricultural sector and recognizing the important role of Indigenous communities in Canadian agriculture.
President's Medal
Established in 1980, the President's Medal is the most prestigious award given by Lakeland College. It is given to graduating students who have completed at least one academic year of full-time study, who show a good balance between academic excellence and leadership in college student activities. One medal is available at the Vermilion campus and one at the Lloydminster campus, should suitable recipients be nominated. Recipients are recognized for their outstanding combination of academic achievement and leadership contributions to the college community.
George Neil Wilson and Ethel (Sloan) Wilson Memorial Scholarship
Established in 2005, The George Neil Wilson and Ethel (Sloan) Wilson Memorial Scholarship is available to Canadian citizens or landed immigrants who are graduating from a Lakeland College program to enroll in full-time university level studies at Lakeland College or any Canadian university. The scholarship is awarded based on academic achievements, extracurricular involvement in school or community, and general deportment and effort. Preference will be given to deserving students who are continuing on to University level studies at Lakeland College, with second preference to the University of Alberta.
